Cancer has no particular symptoms by which to help diagnose it. Regular screening is the only way to catch the disease in the early stages. When the cancer cells are in the initial stages they can be killed using radiation therapy. There are different screening tests for the different types of cancer and it is advisable to have these tests done regularly. The chances of survival of a patient, when the cancer is detected in the early stages are about 90%.

The NP screen test has been formulated especially for early detection of Nasopharyngeal Cancer. This affects the South East Asian community popularly and hence the Southern Chinese community in Canada is advised to regularly screen for Nasopharyngeal Cancer. It is a simple procedure and a painless test. An oral swab sample is taken from the back of the throat and sent to the lab for testing. This is a genetic based test and the results usually take a few weeks.
